About Hire Alum
Hire Alum exists to change that — one school, one graduate, one business at a time.
Hire Alum was founded by a group of graduates who kept running into the same problem: they wanted to hire someone from their alumni network — a designer, a contractor, an accountant — but had no way to find out who was out there. LinkedIn searches were noisy and impersonal. Alumni Facebook groups were buried under reunion posts. The school's alumni office hadn't been updated since 2009.
The trust that comes with a shared school experience is real and powerful. You know something important about a fellow graduate before you've said a word to them. You shared professors, late nights, formative years. When you hire someone from your network, you're not hiring a stranger — you're hiring someone with a shared history. That matters.
So we built the thing we wished existed: a simple, clean, searchable directory of alumni-owned businesses — organized by school, free for everyone, and built to last. We reached out to a handful of schools, set up their pages, and watched the connections start happening. That was enough to know we were onto something.
Today, Hire Alum serves graduates across multiple schools, with more coming every month. The platform is still young, but the idea behind it is old: your community is your greatest asset. We're just here to help you use it.
Alumni networks work best when they're truly reciprocal — when graduates both give and receive support. We build features that strengthen community bonds, not ones that extract value from them. The directory grows stronger as more people contribute to it, and that's by design.
A shared alma mater is a form of social proof. It doesn't guarantee someone is great at their job, but it gives you a starting point that cold outreach never can. We take that trust seriously — which is why we review every listing before it goes live and don't allow anonymous or unverified entries.
We don't sell alumni data. We don't run ads. Our interests are aligned with yours: a healthy, active directory full of real businesses and real graduates. We'll always be upfront about how we operate.
