Terms of Service
Effective date: January 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Hire Alum platform, operated by Hire Alum, Inc. ("Hire Alum," "we," "our," or "us"). By using the platform, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
We've written these Terms in plain language. If something is unclear, please reach out — we'd rather clarify than have you agree to something you don't understand.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using hirealum.com, creating an account, or submitting a business listing, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using Hire Alum on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the platform.
2. Description of Service
Hire Alum is an alumni business directory platform. Schools and alumni associations receive a branded directory page at no cost. Alumni who own businesses can create listings on their school's directory. Visitors can browse, filter, and contact listed businesses.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
3. User Accounts
To submit a business listing, you must create an account using your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may not share your account credentials or create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge and consent. You must notify us immediately at hello@hirealum.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or harm other users or the platform.
4. Listing Guidelines
Business listings on Hire Alum are subject to the following requirements:
- Alumni affiliation: Only graduates (or affiliates, at our discretion) of the school associated with a given directory page may submit listings for that directory. Listing a business on a school directory implies you have a genuine connection to that school.
- Accurate information: All listing information must be accurate and current. You may not misrepresent your business, its services, its location, or your relationship to the school.
- Legitimate businesses: Listings must represent real, active businesses offering legal goods or services. We do not permit listings for businesses that primarily exist to distribute spam, generate affiliate revenue without genuine service, or engage in deceptive practices.
- No spam: You may not use your listing or any contact information on the platform to send unsolicited commercial messages, bulk email, or any form of spam.
- One listing per business: Each business may have only one active listing. Duplicate listings will be removed.
All listings are subject to review before going live. We reserve the right to decline or remove any listing that does not meet these guidelines, without notice.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Hire Alum platform to:
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right, including intellectual property rights and privacy laws.
- Post false, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent content.
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the platform without our prior written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, interfere with platform infrastructure, or introduce malicious code.
- Impersonate another person, business, school, or Hire Alum itself.
- Use the platform in any way that could damage its reputation or the trust of the alumni communities it serves.
- Circumvent any technical measures we have in place to protect the platform or its users.
6. Intellectual Property
The Hire Alum platform — including its design, code, trademarks, and original content — is owned by Hire Alum, Inc. and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute our proprietary materials without prior written permission.
By submitting a business listing, you grant Hire Alum a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute your listing content on the platform and in promotional materials for the purpose of operating and marketing the service. You retain ownership of your content and may remove it at any time by updating or deleting your listing.
You represent that you have the right to submit the content you provide and that doing so does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights.
7. Disclaimers
Hire Alum is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free from harmful components.
We do not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any business listing. Listings represent information submitted by alumni and are not independently verified beyond our basic review process. Any business relationship you enter into through the platform is solely between you and the other party. Hire Alum is not a party to those transactions and is not responsible for any outcome.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hire Alum, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the platform, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Hire Alum in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hire Alum, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the platform, your listing content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If we make changes that materially reduce your rights, we will provide at least 14 days' notice before the changes take effect.
