Trust & Verification
Know exactly who you're hiring.
The whole point of an alumni network is trust — the shared experience of a school, a campus, a community. Our verification system makes that trust legible. A verified badge means we've confirmed the business owner is who they say they are.
How verification works
Verification is a three-part process that happens after a listing is approved and published. It doesn't block your listing from going live — it adds a trust layer on top of it.
We verify that the owner has access to a school-affiliated email address. For many schools, this is a permanent alumni email (e.g. @alumni.school.edu). For others, we use the email associated with their account at sign-in.
Owners submit their graduating class year. We cross-reference this against the school's public records where available, and flag anything that doesn't add up for manual review.
A member of our team looks at the full submission — business name, owner profile, contact info — and confirms it meets our standards for alumni affiliation before granting the verified badge.
What it means for business owners
Verified listings receive a prominent badge on your profile card, in search results, and on your business detail page. Verified businesses are also prioritized in featured placements and our monthly newsletter spotlights. It's a quiet signal that does real work — browsers notice it, even when they don't consciously realize it.
What it means for visitors
When you see the verified badge, you can trust that the person behind the listing is a real graduate of that school. You're not hiring a stranger — you're hiring someone with a documented, confirmed connection to your community. That's the baseline the badge guarantees.
Frequently asked questions
Does every listing have a verification badge?
Not automatically. Listings that complete the verification process — email domain check, class year confirmation, and manual review — receive the verified badge. Unverified listings are still real businesses; they simply haven't completed the process yet.
How long does verification take?
Most verifications complete within 2–5 business days. If additional documentation is needed, we'll reach out by email. Complex cases (multiple owners, older class years without email records) may take a bit longer.
What if my school email no longer works?
That's common, especially for older graduates. We accept alternative forms of verification: a diploma scan, a LinkedIn profile listing the school, or a reference from a current alumni organization. Contact us and we'll work with you.
Can verification be revoked?
Yes. If we receive credible reports that a listing misrepresents alumni affiliation — or if contact information becomes invalid and the owner is unresponsive — we may suspend or revoke verified status pending review.
